There's also a Fly More combo that includes two additional batteries, a charging hub, a set of three ND filters, and a shoulder bag for $1299. The addition of ND filters to the Fly More combo should please a lot of users as they're a common add-on purchase. If you’re looking for an even smaller and more portable drone, the DJI Mini 2 is a tiny drone that weighs just 0.55lbs / 249g.

Unlike the company’s previous drones, the DJI Air 2S isn’t a radical reimagining of the platform. Rather, this $1,000 drone boasts a few improvements over its predecessor, the DJI Air 2, while coming in a few hundred bucks less than the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. Every now and again, you’ll have to update your Air 2S firmware to keep the drone current.

MasterShots is a new feature on the Air 2S and new to DJI in general. Essentially, you point it at an object, and it creates a short video showcasing said object. In my below example, I was trying to get it to work on a boat, but MasterShots only works on static objects.

Video can be recorded in 10-bit D-log, while the image processing algorithms go a long way to make post-editing and post processing largely unnecessary for most. Real Estate is another service that can be performed with the Air 2S drone. It’s also a great entry-point for new drone startup businesses. Drone Service Providers are commonly contracted to perform all types of real estate photo and video for marketing residential properties, commercial properties such as, apartments, resorts, vacant land and others. Drone cameras are capable of capturing high resolution still images, video, multiple overhead map images, and even 360 degree panoramas. Our team has more than 40 years of experience designing and manufacturing propellers for Model Airplanes and Drones.

You’ll notice a thin line along the middle-right side, that’s the gimbal pitch (up/down). I’ll get more into the photographic bits in the next section. The four arms of the Air 2S swing out for flight, and fold back in for storage.

According to DJI, the Air 2S’s battery will be fully charged in an hour and 40 minutes if you provide the proper conditions for the battery. Although this seems like a long time, the Air 2S only uses one battery, so you’re waiting under two hours for it to be ready. Li-ion batteries shouldn’t generally even be charged to 100 percent for the life of the battery, let alone over 100 percent.

Send your drone off on its way, and it'll record everything. The app will then combine it all into a single chunk of footage. It's a dead-simple way to get a ton of B-roll (supplementary content of whatever you're filming) without needing to do much on your end. Despite all that, DJI’s products continue to be available in the US as of this writing. More The combination of portability, safety, and autonomous technology means you can spend more time enjoying flights and less time worrying about them.

At 180x97x80 mm folded down, the DJI Air 2S has a frame that’s almost identical to the Mavic Air 2 and can fit in the palm of your hand. What’s noticeably different is that the 2S has obstacle avoidance sensors placed on top of the drone. There's no question the improved camera alone warrants an upgrade. In fact, the Air 2S one-ups the Mavic 2 Pro in an important area. The Mavic 2 Pro could record 4K video using the full width of its sensor, but it did so using pixel binning. As a result, the best 4K footage was obtained by shooting from a native crop of the sensor, which also narrowed the camera's field of view.

The Air 2S also features AirSense which uses ADS-B aviation technology to receive signals from nearby aeroplanes and helicopters and displays their locations on the on-screen map on the DJI Fly app. Plus there’s the GEO 2.0 geofencing system, which helps to keep the drone away from restricted airspace around locations such as airports. This relatively basic controller means that all camera controls – except releasing the shutter, switching from video to stills, and anything you program to the FN button – need to be done through the DJI Fly app. Still, the controller's extra size isn't the end of the world, and the combined size and weight of the drone and its controller remain low. A basic screen to display information plus a couple of additional programmable FN buttons on the back of the controller would be useful, but aren't essential.
